Glacier Hike

The Øksfjordjøkel glacier is both a slice of astonishing natural beauty, and an historical and cultural monument. On this excursion, an expert guide will lead you on a thrilling close exploration of the glacier. Whilst traversing peaks, nunataqs, and colossal boulders shifted and sculpted by the floes of ice, you will learn about the glacial caves where refugees sheltered during the second world war. Instruction will be given in the use of crampons, axes, and safety ropes before you approach the entrance to the glacier as a rope team, reaching elevations of more than 2600 feet. If conditions allow, you may even have the chance to climb vertically out across the ice. This is a challenging tour.
Terms and Conditions apply. For the following activities — Fjord & Wildlife Cruise, Swimming and Snorkeling with Whales, Deep Sea Fishing, Fjord Cruise under the Midnight Sun, and Arctic Floating — there will only be a 50% refund if the activity is cancelled due to weather conditions.
